Made from the earth.

Britt likes to highlight the materials used in her work as they play a vital part in the creation of each piece. Read below to learn more about earth materials used.

  • Plant Dyes

We use locally harvested and ethically sourced plants to create our dyes for both paintings and tassels in our jewellery line. Our paintings consist of many different plants we use to create a paste to then paint with. Our clothing or tassels are dyed in a dye bath.

We also use local plants for stamping and indenting our ceramics and textiles.

  • Textiles

We use natural, unbleached, handmade cotton tassels for our earrings. These are the perfect material for absorbing and holding the colour of our natural plant dyes. We also use unbleached cotton for our plant dyed canvases. All of our cotton is biodegradable.

  • Wildcrafting for Inspiration

Britt regularity spends uninterrupted time in nature to reconnect with our earth. She likes to witness the beauty of her natural surroundings in order to gain inspiration and creativity from the land. She will on times collect natural items that speak to her in order to bring back home and create new design and inspiration ideas. She devotes this time to also help her recover from a brain injury along with the help of magic mushrooms.

  • Packaging

We try not to use excessive packaging when sending out your orders. In instances when we do require packaging, it is made from post consumer recycled paper, along with our mailers.

Cotton bags are utilized for the jewellery so that you can reuse over and over, (hello travel case) and can even be composted!

  • Clay

The majority of our clay is a porcelain farmed from a quarry in Saskatchewan. Porcelain is strong, lightweight and the least porous of all clay bodies, making it perfect for jewellery.

Occasionally we also use speckle clay and Navajo clay with a low grit, both of which are also farmed from Saskatchewan.

We choose not to work with polymer, as it can be carcinogenic to humans and a byproduct of petroleum, which is very hard on the environment

  • Metals

Gold fill is a hypoallergenic and non tarnishing. It is created using a thick layer of 18K gold set around sterling silver. This provides you years of life with a gold finish.

Surgical steel is used for our post backings for all of our studs. This metal was created for medical surgeries and therefore hypoallergenic for most people.

Brass metal clay is used in some of our pendants and earrings. We use precious metal clay (PMC) to create our brass.
